Candy Cane Cord and Liquorice Lace Weaves
In this full-day workshop, students will learn how to weave Candy Cane Cord (CCC) and Liquorice Lace (LL). These 2 closely related weaves produce round, rope-like chains. CCC is dense, while LL lets some light show through. Students will learn the following techniques: CCC weave, LL weave, color patterning, joining the ends to make continuous chains that do not need a clasp and Spiral and Alternating versions of both weaves.
Each kit will contain enough anodized aluminum jump rings in 2 colors (golden & gunmetal) to make a 1 CCC bracelet and 1 LL bracelet, plus extra jump rings for practicing the Spiral and Alternating versions of each weave as well as trying out color patterning and joining.
Students who enroll should have some chain maille experience. Students should be familiar with the following concepts: Through-the-Eye vs. Around-the-Eye connections, gauge, inner/outer diameter and aspect ratio. Ability to weave Byzantine and Full Persian chains is helpful but not required.

Meet the instructor
Jewelry designer and author, Karen Karon, has been weaving maille for well over a decade. She teaches chain maille and scale maille classes and workshops at Metalwerx School for Jewelry and Metal Arts, at local venues, and also provides private chain maille/scale maille instruction. In addition, Karen is a certified PMC (Precious Metal Clay) artisan. Karen has written articles for Art Jewelry, Bead Style, Bead&Button and Step by Step Wire Jewelry magazines and is the author of Chain Maille Jewelry Workshop and Advanced Chain Maille Jewelry Workshop, both published by Interweave.

Materials & Tools
There is a $95 materials fee for the anodized aluminum kit for this workshop payable upon registration. Kit includes all of the anodized aluminum jump rings needed for the class, sterling silver finding(s), and full color Karen Karon manual with step by step instructions.
Please note that anodized aluminum kits will be ordered in two colors (gunmetal and golden).
- Closed-toe shoes - required in the Metalwerx studio
