Chaine Maille Jewelry: Hawkskaede Weave

In a set of paired half-day workshops, explore two uncommon, beautiful, and related jewelry chain weaves, Forars Kaede and Hawkskaede! Both weaves produce fluid, flexible chains with striking patterning. Take one or take both! In each workshop, you will construct a chain bracelet in the metal of your choosing (see the Materials & Tools section for details).

In this afternoon half-day workshop, we'll focus on the Hawkskaede, a more challenging weave that produces a chain with an eye-catching rectangular profile. Learn how to construct this weave, how to add a clasp, and how to join the ends to make continuous chains. Color patterning options will also be presented.

It is assumed that all students who enroll are proficient weavers, know the difference between Through-the-Eye and Around-the-Eye connections, and understand gauge, inner/outer diameter, and aspect ratio.  Students should be comfortable working with small jump rings and complex patterns.

This workshop is the second of a two-part paired set of workshops. For students who want to make it a full day and take on more of a challenge, sign up for the morning workshop with Karen Karon, all about the Forars Kaede weave which produces a chain with a square profile. Take one or both! Sign up for Forars Kaede Weave here!

Please be advised: Registration for onsite classes closes one week before the class start date.
