Directed Studio Practice: Stonesetting!

If you are ready to take your stonesetting to the next level, then this weekly class is for you!

With guidance and demonstrations from a professional bench jeweler, students in this special Directed Studio Practice weekly class will have the opportunity to hone stonesetting skills they already have and learn new ones. Work on independent stonesetting projects featuring your choice of a variety of settings, including open-back bezels, tube-settings, prong-settings, flush-setting channel-settings, and other creative captures for faceted and cabochon stones. Note: This workshop will not cover pavé or illusion settings.

Students must bring all required materials for their desired stone settings projects, including gemstones, sheet, wire and solder. Guidance is available for students wishing to order silver, gold, or other materials for their projects.

This particular session of Directed Studio Practice has a prerequisite of Jewelry 1 or equivalent experience, including basic bezel-setting skills.

Please note: For DSP courses, students provide all materials required to complete their independent projects, including solder. No materials will be provided in this class.

Consumable supplies for projects, such as metal, sandpaper, solder, etc., are provided by students but the instructor is happy to offer guidance before ordering.

Instructor will have a variety of gemstones/CZs, silver wire/sheet, and commercial prong and tube settings ranging from $5-$75 available for students to purchase during class.
