Low Tech Die Forming

This course introduces students to low-tech die forming processes that utilizes tools and materials most artists have laying around their space. Hand cut die molds can be made from wood, masonite, and acrylic sheet. Custom forming and chasing tools can be made by repurposing old tools, brush handles, kitchen utensils, etc. Utilizing these common materials, students will then learn to prep, anneal, and methodically press sheet metal into their handmade dies, adding volume and dimension to any design.
