Stone Setting Intensive
Designed for makers ready to add stones to their work, this class focuses on the mechanics behind secure, refined settings. This course is a focused, skill-building introduction to foundational stonesetting techniques for students with prior metalsmithing experience. Students will learn to build and set tube bezels, open-back bezels, basic prong settings, and flush-set stones, developing the skills needed for secure, precise results. The class will cover bezel construction from the most straightforward mounts to more refined tube bezel settings, along with prong setting for round, oval, trillion, and emerald-cut faceted stones. Emphasis will be placed on precision, stone protection, tool control, and understanding how different cuts and settings interact with metal.
