In this full-day workshop, students will learn how to weave Candy Cane Cord (CCC) and Liquorice Lace (LL). These 2 closely related weaves produce round, rope-like chains. CCC is dense, while LL lets some light show through. Students will learn the following techniques: CCC weave, LL weave, color patterning, joining the ends to make continuous chains that do not need a clasp and Spiral and Alternating versions of both weaves. Forming, or the altering / manipulation of metal into voluminous shapes, gives a piece more character, dimension, and adds a new level of visual interest. In this weekly class students will learn to properly use hammers and other forming tools such as "stakes", sinking stumps, and mandrels to efficiently move or shape metal to create volume.
